The Trade Exam: All CLC trade exam preparation programs utilize our proven combination of instructional textbooks with corresponding audio and video support materials and online practice exams.


NOTE!
If you are already a licensed contractor & wish to add an additional license, you only have to pass the trade exam. You are not required to take the Law and Business exam again!

PART 1 The Trade Exam

The Lock and Security Manual: Briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including California State Accessibility Standards, Fire Doors and Windows, Garage Door Openers, Fundamentals of Master Keying, Doors, Safes, Plan and Circuit Symbols, and Basic Electrical Theory. The last section of the Lock and Security Manual covers the Health and Safety Orders.

Audio/Video Lectures: The Math Review Lecture covers the math formulas in the first part of the Lock and Security manual. The Health and Safety Lecture covers the Health and Safety Orders at the end of the Lock and Security manual.

Lock and Security Practice Questions: It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently. Please be sure that you study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations.

The C-28 Lock and Security Contractor’s Computer-Assisted Practice Tests: Our exam simulation program loads directly into your browser and presents questions one at a time, automatically scores your exam, presents you with a grade, and lists each question answered incorrectly along with the correct answer.

General Information:

A C-28 lock and security equipment contractor evaluates, sets-up, installs, maintains and repairs all doors and door assemblies, gates, locks and locking devices, panic and fire rated exit releases, jail and prison locking devices and permanently installed or built in safes and vaults. This classification includes but is not limited to master key systems, metal window guards, security doors, card activated and electronic access control systems for control equipment, motion and other types of detectors and computer systems for control and audit of control systems and other associated equipment.

FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS ARE SPECIFICALLY NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS LICENSE.

The Trade Exam + The Law Exam

There are two parts to the examination process. ALL qualifying individuals must pass BOTH the standard Law and Business examination as well as a second test covering the specific Trade or Certification Area for which they are applying.

The Law & Business Exam is divided into eight major sections.

Law and Business Manual: The Law and Business Manual is conveniently broken into four separate chapters, each with its own Glossary of Terms. The manual is written in layperson’s language and includes sample forms as well as summaries and checklists to help students prepare for the State Exam. There are no complicated legal codes to decipher. Each section of the Law and Business manual is also backed up with both video and audio lectures to further broaden your understanding and expose you to multiple methods of explanation and memorization.

Audio/Video Law and Business Lectures: Cover each chapter of the Law and Business Manual and the Law and Business Review questions in the back of the manual. All of the lectures are available in both audio and video formats.
