The Trade Exam

NOTE!
If you are already a licensed contractor in good standing & wish to add an additional license,  you only have to pass the trade exam. You are not required to take the Law and Business exam again!

PART 1 The Trade Exam

The Trade Exam itself consists of questions coming from such diverse sources as (a) The Cal/OSHA State of California Construction Safety Orders, General Building trade manual, (b) NEC-National Electric Code, (c) CALTRANS – Publication Unit, (d) Standard Specifications State of California DOT, (e) Uniform Fire Code, (f) California Contractors License Law & Reference Book, (g) Construction Planning Equipment & Methods, (h) California Building Code, (i) California Disabled Accessibility Guidebook, (J) Manuals relating to the trade in which you are becoming licensed.

The Trade & The Law Exam

Our Law Manual, Audio and Video DVD’s and CD’s as well as our Computerized Final Exams are designed to work seamlessly together and are key to helping you memorize our study materials and pass your State exam.

There are two parts to the examination process. ALL qualifying individuals must pass BOTH the standard Law and Business examination as well as a second test covering the specific Trade or Certification Area for which they are applying. The Law & Business Exam is divided into eight major sections. These sections are: 1: Business Organization. 2: Business Financial. 3: Employment Requirements. 4: Bonds, Insurance, and Liens. 5: Contract Requirements and Execution. 6: Licensing Requirements. 7: Safety Requirements. 8: Public Works.
