C-20 (HVAC) CONTRACTOR
EXAM PREPARATION PROGRAM
A C-20 Warm Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Contractor fabricates, installs, maintains, services and repairs warm air heating systems and water heating heat pumps, complete with warm air appliances; ventilating systems complete with blowers and plenum chambers; air-conditioning systems complete with air-conditioning unit; and the ducts, registers, flues, humidity and thermostatic controls and air filters in connection with any of these systems.
This classification shall include warm air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems which utilize solar energy.

The Trade Exam

General Information: TRADE Exam Course Material (Pt-1)
The HVAC Manual: Briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including Properties of Air and Water, Basic HVAC Formulas, Basic Electrical Formulas, Electrical and Insulating Materials, SCGC Standards, Fuels and Refrigerants, Mechanical Refrigeration, Plan and Circuit Symbols, Solar Energy, and Psychometric Charts. The manual also contains summaries of the Uniform Mechanical Code. The last section of the HVAC Manual covers the Health and Safety Orders.
The Audio/Video Lectures: The Math Review Lecture covers the math formulas in the first part of the HVAC manual. The HVAC lecture covers the topics addressed in the manual specific to the C-20 trade exam. The Health and Safety Lecture covers the Health and Safety Orders at the end of the HVAC manual.
The HVAC Practice Exams: Please be sure that your students study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations. It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently.

The manual is written in layperson’s language and includes sample forms as well as summaries and checklists to help students prepare for the State Exam. There are no complicated legal codes to decipher. Each section of the Law and Business manual is also backed up with both video and audio lectures to further broaden your understanding and expose you to multiple methods of explanation and memorization.
