A C-13 Fencing Contractor constructs, erects, alters, or repairs all types of fences, corrals, runs, nailings, cribs, game court enclosures, guard rails and barriers, playground game equipment, backstops, posts, flagpoles, and gates, excluding masonry walls.

The Trade Exam

NOTE!If you are already a licensed contractor in good standing & wish to add an additional license, you only have to pass the trade exam. You are not required to take the Law and Business exam again!

General Information: TRADE Exam Course Material (Pt-1)
The Fencing Manual: Briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including Wood Fences, Wire Fences, Estimating Quantities, and summaries of CALTRANS Standard Specifications. The last section of the Fencing Manual covers the Health and Safety Orders.
Audio/Video Lectures: The Fencing lecture covers the topics addressed in the manual specific to the C-13 trade exam and includes basic estimating practices. The Health and Safety Lecture covers the Health and Safety Orders at the end of the Fencing manual.
Fencing Practice Exams: Please be sure that you study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations. It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently.
The C-13 Fencing Contractor’s Computer-Assisted Practice Tests: Our exam simulation software program loads directly onto your computer and presents questions one at a time, automatically scores your exam, presents you with a grade, and lists each question answered incorrectly along with the correct answer.

The Law and Business Exam

The Trade & The Law Exam

There are two parts to the examination process. ALL qualifying individuals must pass BOTH the standard Law and Business examination as well as a second test covering the specific Trade or Certification Area for which they are applying. The Law & Business Exam is divided into eight major sections. These sections are:
1: Business Organization. 2: Business Financial. 3: Employment Requirements. 4: Bonds, Insurance, and Liens. 5: Contract Requirements and Execution. 6: Licensing Requirements. 7: Safety Requirements.

General Information: (LAW) Course Materials
Law and Business Manual: The manual is broken into four chapters, each with its own Glossary of Terms. It is written in layperson’s language and there are no complicated legal codes to decipher. The manual includes sample forms as well as summaries and checklists to help you gauge your readiness for the State Exam. Each chapter is also backed up with both video and audio lectures to further broaden your understanding and expose you to multiple methods of explanation designed to enhance memorization of our materials.
Audio/Video Law and Business Lectures: These narrated lectures go over each chapter of the Law and Business Manual as well as the Law and Business review questions at the back of the manual. All lectures are provided in both audio and video formats.
